Tahap-Tahap Perubahan yang Dialami Oleh Seseorang Pecandu yang Mempengaruhi Proses Pemulihannya

Memotivasi individu yang mengalami ketergantungan pada narkoba untuk mau menghentikan pola penggunaan zatnya bukanlah hal yang mudah. Prochaska & DiClemente (dalam Bennet. 1998) mengatakan bahwa ada tahap-tahap perubahan yang dialami oleh seseorang pecandu yang mempengaruhi proses pemulihannya.
Penjelasan tahap perubahan tersebut sebagai berikut :
- Precontemplation adalah tahap dimana pecandu umumnya belum mau mengakui bahwa perilaku penggunaan narkoba merugikan diri sendiri, keluarga dan lingkungannya. Pada tahap ini seorang pecandu akan menampilkan mekanisme pertahanan diri agar mereka dapat mempertahankan pola ketergantungannya. Jenis mekanisme pertahanan diri paling sering muncul adalah penyangkalan (denial) dimana pecandu selalu
